Oversteer/Understeer

There is considerably less understeer this event compared to prior events, likely due to the new 800lb springs (replaced 600 lb springs).

Lateral and Longitudinal G

As mentioned in prior race reports, there is a persistent vehicle dynamics challenge in that the car can exhibit nearly 1.2 lateral g in both left and right turns but the car can only consistently exhibit about .8 longitudinal negative g (braking) (for this event max braking G was even less but likely due to track configuration.

My coach has been working with me to achieve threshold braking but, I will be honest, I don’t think an Austin Healey is able to reach the level of straight line braking offered by most other race cars. I will keep working on threshold braking but I will also explore different brake pad compound to help increase brake effectiveness.
